Re: AMS discussion thread...
Lets discuss the issue of R&D, shall we?

How much money in R&D is there in making those cam plugs? It's not like they're a difficult part to construct or draw in a 3D model. They're a half circle for crying out loud.

How much money is there in R&D in the motor mounts? Make a couple plates, weld a tube between them, weld on braces.

I have my doubts about anyone actually putting these parts through strenuous tests to determine shear loads and breaking points. Or drawing up a 3D model and having it analyzed via software.

I will concede there is probably a little more involved in making the manifolds. You'll have to make sure they'll fit and flow properly. And this could take a few iterations or the original build could be good enough for 99% of the people.

Also... $14k to get a patent? Really? Because I've been forwarded links to some really stupid patents out there. For instance, someone patented using a laser light as a cat exercise device. Now patent cost aside, you'd really only need the patent in the US. It's not like there are a bazillion Z32s in other countries buying AMS parts. I'm guessing most of the AMS parts are sold to Z32 owners in the US. And therefore, the US patent would prevent the importation of these copied parts.

And a quick google search gave me this:

$1,300.00. Someone put the comma in the wrong place before.
